Failing to Take Sin Far Enough

In The Safest Place on Earth, Larry Crabb wrote,

Every bad desire is a corruption of good desire. And every good desire is a meager expression of our deepest desire to know God. Therefore, an honest tracing of every desire, good and bad, will lead us to [the place] where intimacy with Him is available. .. [E}very hunger, when followed to its source, turns out to be a hunger for God...

I love this quote. And I was very surprised when I saw where it came from. Having cut my teeth on his Christian counseling system many years ago, he's one of the last people I would have expected to express a deeply Orthodox thought.

But I guess if I person like me could recognize the truth of Orthodoxy, I shouldn't be surprised that a guy as smart as Crabb would also glean some authentic nuggets.

So much of his stuff is amazing. I loved SOUL TALK, THE SAFEST PLACE ON EARTH, and THE PRESSURE'S OFF. I have underlined them to death. Have you read them? I'd be curious to know what you think of them. They're all about LIFE, not "following spiritual principles."
