Does God Get Bored...

* * * * *

Does God get bored with all those Lord, have mercy's?

I don't think so, any more than parents get bored listening to the sound of their children breathing--as if breathing itself is, somehow, its own kind of voice.

Is that what part of the prayer is, our respiration--in, out, in, out?

Or maybe it's even more intimate than that--maybe it's actually one of the ways God gives us the kiss of life (as in artificial respiration, though it's the complete opposite of "artificial"!) from the inside out...

Oh, my! Your insights are now coming fast and furious, aren't they? This is terrific.

This is how even breathing becomes sanctified. This is how breathing becomes a sacrament, a form of communion with the Beloved.

This reminded me of a song I wrote some years ago:

God breathed the Word that formed all the world
The heavens and nature whole
And then He formed in His image man
And breathed in him a living soul

I breathe the very breath of God
Without His breath I cannot live
His Word, His life, unceasing prayer
With every breath I take my God is there

Jesus the Word, incarnate God
Very breath of soul divine
Exhaled His breath upon my heart
And now His living breath is mine

I breathe the very breath of God
Without His breath I cannot live
His Word, His life, unceasing prayer
With every breath I take my God is there

Father God, my every breath
It's Your name on which I call
I cannot breathe apart from you
You are my God my breath my all

I breathe the very breath of God
Without His breath I cannot live
His Word, His life, unceasing prayer
With every breath I take my God is there

The kiss of life You give to me
I know I cannot breathe apart from Thee

What a beautiful song! Thank you for sharing it. Here's something I wonder--where in the Orthodox Church is there room for songs like that to be shared and sung? That song should definitely be shared, and sung by lots of people!

Remind me next time you see me - a friend of mine wrote music for it (we had a band together) and I have a recording of it on my iPod. If I can trim it out I'll send you a copy, but right now it's in the middle of a 28 minute set.

I'm listening to it--it's terrific. Thank you for sending. But what about my question?

As far as I know, there isn't, at least as far as worship is concerned. I'd be happy to make it available to anyone interested... There's nothing against more modern music in general - OCN has a stream with some CCM.

O.k., thank you!
