"Love your enemies"

**

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who hurt you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you."
Matthew 5:44

So...basically, it should be an incredible and royal privilege to be our enemy--to hate us should guarantee all kinds of blessings and heartfelt prayers!

I've often thought that I'd make a great enemy for someone--a sort of nemesis. I keep praying for people, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to get people to slap you on one cheek, let alone the other.

That's true...but to the extent that each of us is his or her own enemy, we can offer compassion to that self-destructive part of the self!
