Fear
**
"If we are freed from the ultimate fear, that of death, we are unshackled from every other fear, even those imposed by the rules and rituals of 'religion.'"
It reminds me of one of the Psalms of the Sunday kathismas "There they have feared with a fear where there is no fear." There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear (Epistle of St. John).
It is in the HTM Psalter, but it is at Church. I'll try to remember to get the Psalm verse. I looked in another translation and it doesn't have that wording. Perhaps it is a Septuagint version.

ReplyDeleteThank you, S-P!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find that Psalm?

ReplyDeleteThe second and third kathsimata, which are traditionally read on Sunday, include Psalms 9-24.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Roland!
ReplyDeleteStill traveling?
I got home from Albania late Monday night. Now I'm back at St. Vlad's for the Hellenism symposium - and to pack up my room for the summer.
